My Story
At VIJIMISH, I believe that fashion is a powerful form of self-expression, and it is founded with a vision to create a brand that celebrates individuality, creativity, and confidence.
My journey began when I, a passionate fashion enthusiast, embarked on a mission to redefine the fashion industry. I have always been fascinated by the transformative power of fashion. From a young age, I displayed an innate talent and a burning desire for creativity. As a child, I delighted in crafting unique and imaginative creations with my own hands, foreshadowing a future destined for artistic expression.
However, it was during my 10th grade that something truly clicked in my mind, and I realised that my creative endeavours were merely the beginning of a remarkable journey—one that would allow me to transcend boundaries and excel in the world of clothes, designs, and patterns. The realisation ignited a fire within me, one that still burns brightly to this day.
My craving for fashion and design is insatiable. Ideas flow effortlessly through my mind, like a constant stream of inspiration waiting to be brought to life. With an uncanny ability to envision unique designs, I instinctively connect them to future trends, intuitively recognising their potential and saying, "Yes, Vijaya, this is something truly unique, and you should do it."
Driven by this inherent passion, I continually challenge myself to push beyond my limits and explore uncharted territories. My creative process is a true testament to my unique vision. I possess an exceptional ability to foresee the direction of future trends, combining original concepts with a deep understanding of the ever-evolving fashion landscape. The result is a harmonious blend of my distinctive flair and a forward-thinking approach, creating designs that resonate with individuals seeking something extraordinary.
My story is one of determination, sacrifice, and passion. After completing higher secondary school, life took an unexpected turn for me as I found myself at a crossroads between pursuing my own dreams and fulfilling my parent's aspirations of cracking the highly prestigious IIT-JEE/AIEEE exams. With immense courage, I made the difficult decision to set aside my dreams temporarily and embarked on a journey to Kota, a place for aspiring engineers to prepare for the exams. For two years, I immersed myself in rigorous studies, working tirelessly to live up to the expectations set by my parents. While this path was challenging, it showcased my determination and my ability to adapt to new circumstances.
After successfully completing my preparations, I joined an engineering college in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, stepping into the realm of technical education. Yet, deep within, the flame of creativity continued to burn brightly. My heart yearned for the world of fashion and design, a passion I had carried from my earlier years.
Unable to ignore my true calling, I made a bold decision during my first year of engineering college—I chose to follow my dreams once again and pursue fashion designing at NIFT Delhi. It was a leap of faith, driven by an undeniable desire to pursue my passion against all odds.
However, life has a way of testing one's resolve. Circumstances beyond my control intervened, forcing me to put my dreams on hold once more and return to complete my engineering degree. It was a difficult moment as I had to suppress my creative yearnings and reconcile with the reality at hand.
Yet, true passion never truly fades away. Despite the challenges and setbacks, my determination and love for fashion endured. My indomitable spirit kept my dreams alive, constantly whispering in my ear, reminding me of my true calling.
My journey reflects my strength of character and my ability to adapt to the circumstances that life presents. It showcases my resilience and commitment to personal growth and fulfilment.
Today, as I embrace my engineering degree, I carry within me the knowledge that my creative spirit is stronger than ever. I understand that my experiences in the world of engineering have enriched my perspectives, providing a unique foundation for my future endeavours in the realm of fashion and design. My story is a testament to the power of following one's dreams, even in the face of adversity. It reminds us that true passion cannot be extinguished and that with perseverance and resilience, we can overcome any obstacle on the path to our aspirations.
As I continue to chart my course, my indomitable spirit will undoubtedly guide me toward the fulfilment of my creative ambitions. My journey will serve as an inspiration to others, encouraging them to never give up on their dreams, no matter how winding the path may be.
After taking the courageous step to follow my passion for fashion designing, I faced yet another hurdle as I rejoined college during the 3rd semester, having left in the midst of my 1st year. Facing the daunting task of overcoming 23 backlogs, I embarked on a remarkable mission to clear each and every one of them. Driven by an unyielding determination to make my parents proud and to attain my engineering degree, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to my studies.
Days turned into nights as I tirelessly poured over textbooks, notes, and reference materials, diligently working to bridge the gap in my academic journey. My commitment to excellence was unwavering, leaving no room for compromise.
During my arduous journey, I confronted numerous challenges and obstacles. The path to success was filled with moments of self-doubt and exhaustion, but my spirit propelled me forward. I remained steadfast, refusing to give up on my dreams and aspirations.
My resilience and tenacity paid off as I steadily cleared each backlog, one by one. With sheer determination and focus, I defied the odds and triumphed over adversity. The day of convocation arrived, a momentous occasion not only for me but also for my parents who had longed to witness their child receiving an engineering degree. The stage was set, and with a sense of accomplishment and pride, I walked across that stage, their dreams transformed into reality.
The journey that I embarked upon, marked by setbacks and challenges, serves as a shining example of perseverance and determination.
My spirit and commitment to excellence prove that with the right mindset and dedication, anything is possible.
After graduating, I embarked on a successful path, joining SAP Labs and immersing myself in the world of corporate for 6 years. However, my passion for fashion and design never wavered.
During my first year on the job, I made a bold decision to pursue my dreams alongside my professional commitments. I enrolled in a diploma course, dedicating my weekends to honing my skills and nurturing my creative spirit.
The journey I embarked upon was not an easy one. Balancing the demands of a full-time job with the rigorous demands of a diploma course required exceptional time management and dedication. Weekdays were spent working as an engineer, utilising my skills and contributing to the success of SAP Labs. Meanwhile, weekends became a cherished sanctuary where I indulged in my true passion, immersing myself in the world of fashion and design.
My commitment to my dreams served as a driving force throughout this journey. I refused to let my professional success extinguish the flame of creativity within me. Instead, I nurtured both aspects of my life, recognising the importance of embracing my true calling while excelling in my chosen profession.
The weekends spent in the diploma course became a precious opportunity for me to expand my knowledge, refine my skills, and connect with like-minded individuals who shared their passion. It was a time to explore new techniques, experiment with designs, and constantly evolve as a creative force.My ability to seamlessly integrate my professional life with my creative pursuits is a testament to my determination and commitment.
After dedicating six years to the corporate world, I made a courageous decision—to pursue my dreams before it was too late. Today, I proudly introduce Vijimish, the label born out of Vijaya's determination and relentless pursuit of my true passion.
Vijimish encapsulates the essence of Vijaya's creative vision and showcases the unique blend of artistry, innovation, and love for fashion. It represents the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and the belief that dreams are worth pursuing.
